Why we exist
Let's be honest: half the "reviews" you find when googling a 3D printer are sponsored. Often you never get the real picture but more of whatever the brand paid for.
YouTube isn't much better. Tons of creators get sent free printers, and let's just say that doesn't encourage brutal honesty. Even without meaning to, there is always pressure to keep the brand happy.
Thankfully Reddit is the one place that still feels honest, people saying what they think about anything. So we built this site to make sifting through tons of Reddit threads way less painful, starting with 3D printers because the hobby is blowing up right now and beginners need a place to start.
Now, you might side-eye us for still including YouTube after that whole rant. Fair. But there are genuinely great creators out there doing real benchmarking and torture-testing their printers. No sponsorships, no fluff but they just get buried under all the sponsored stuff. We wanted to give them the spotlight they actually earned and deserve.
What makes us different
We believe we can offer you a one-stop platform that collates honest reviews from Reddit, Youtube and Amazon for a range of 3D Printer models. As our slogan says: No bias. No sponsors. Just pure market truth. We strive to bring you genuine reviews from owners with genuine day-to-day experience with a model and from creators who have thoroughly tested it.
And unlike a lot of LLMs out there that are basically just repeating whatever Google surfaces (sponsored posts included), we're not doing that. A bunch of the sources cited don't even hold up, or are "reviews" from people who clearly never owned the printer.
How it works
1. We scrape. Every few days, we scan relevant subreddits and YouTube for the latest owner opinions and reviews on each 3D printer model. As for Amazon, we perform monthly scrapes on the sales volume and ratings of each model.
2. We analyse and filter. Each Reddit review is checked to confirm the Redditor actually owns the model to filter out hearsay or opinions from people who don't own the printer. For YouTube, we screen video descriptions and captions to remove sponsored content where the printer was gifted for free.
3. We score. Each platform is weighted differently in the final score: Reddit (45%), Amazon (35%), YouTube (20%).
➤ Amazon combines product ratings with price-normalised sales volume, so budget and premium printers are compared fairly within their own price tier.
➤ Reddit splits evenly between overall sentiment, so detailed, reasoned posts count more than reactions and how often a model is mentioned relative to others in its price tier.
➤ YouTube scores overall net sentiment, weighted by both the sentiment of each video and its depth. This is so a thorough benchmark video carries more weight than an unboxing video.
